Dominican University advice?

Published

Hi there!

Does anyone have any insight on Dominican University's nursing program? I'm interested in going there, and my main question is if it is any easier to get accepted into Dominican than other nearby schools. I'll be applying to at least 8 nursing schools in the Bay Area. I know that SF State, USF are ridiculously competitive, not to mention the depressing lottery systems in the CC's, but I haven't heard much about Dominican's stats on their enrollment process/acceptance besides what is listed on their website. I feel that I am fairly competitive with a projected overall gpa of 3.6+, a science gpa of 3.25, and volunteer work... but I'm not sure if Dominican considers supplemental criteria.

What is your experience with applying for this school, whether you got in or not?

Thanks!!

Holycrap! I just looked it up!![emoji15] That's so low!!!!

I asked about their pass rate and their implementing a new Kaplan class that everyone in the nursing program has to take where they better prepare you for the NCLEX. It's a graded class with graded tests. My cousin goes there and said its something new they have started

Maybe wait to see how he cohort that has to take the Kaplan class does on the NCLEX? 42,000/year is a lot of money for an education that only prepares 60% to pass the NCLEX.

I concur with futurenorcalnure

I just looked up their pass rate on the California Board of Nursing website (rn.ca.gov) and it was 83.95% (81- # of students who took the test). And that's for 2015-16.

I'm considering the 30 unit RN program and I'm not a traditional student.
