It has been my goal to start out taking the pre-reqs I need at a local CC and then to transfer to a 4 year school to get my BSN. Because I already have a chunk of the pre-reqs completed from my first AA degree and the fact that the CC has a huge waiting list no matter what your GPA is and the 4 year school does not have a wait list for over 3.3GPA last year, I could get my BSN sooner than if I just waited it out on the wait list for my ASN.
SO I had all of my classes I thought I needed for the BSN pre-reqs all mapped out. If I wanted a shot at the Fall '10 class I needed to bust butt and take about 4 classes a semester in addition to being a FT working mom. Well I went and talked to an advisor for the 4 year school last night and she cut SEVEN classes off of the pre-reqs I thought I needed!!!
There is a group of classes required for the major, and then a group of classes required as Gen Ed. Some of the science classes required for the major also would qualify as the Gen Ed class but I thought that you couldn't use one class to satisfy both requirements, but appearntly you can! So not only does this reduce the # of classes I need to take each semester, but it saves me over 10K in student loans!!!
YAY! I'm so glad I went in and talked to her.
