I saw this after surfing the net. Press release 01/12/2011

The Department of Health (DoH) today announced that applications can be filed starting next week, January 17, for its project where unemployed nurses will be deployed to poor communities in the country.

"the project, billed RN heals, seeks to make essential health services available to all Filipinos by training and deploying 10,000 unemployed nurses in communities to be identified by the DoH in collaboration with the department of social welfare & development (DSWD),"

Health secretary Enrique Ona said.

Rn Heals, an acronym for registered nurses for health enhancement and local service, is expected to address the shortage of skilled and experienced nurses in 1,221 rural and unserved or underserved communities for one year.

"eventually, these nurses will be part of the pool of competent nurses for later employment or absorption in health facilities, thus addressing the inadequate supply of skilled nurses and increasing the nurses' employment rate," the health chief concluded.

Up! Up! Up! Guys for those who are currently enrolled in RN Heals 3, can you share your thoughts, experiences, tips and what not. :D

My friend and I will go to NCMH on Wednesday to submit the requirements for RN Heals 4 but I am anxious about the exam, just so you know I got rejected by 2 hospitals just because of the qualifying exam. As someone who had gone through the screening process like the exam, interview etc., what best practices can you guys share? Thanks. :D

Whew, finally done submitting our application form at NCMH. I hope things go well with regards to the application.

Is there any news about the new batch for RN Heals 5? any updates about the registration?

Hi Captain, I thinK batch 5 simultaneously started with batch 4. batch 5 was specifically launched last year as the community setting counterpart of batch 4. The screening for the next batch this year would probably start early in September. :D

oh I see, I want to register in the RN Heals for hospital setting.. Is that Rn heals batch 6? When will it start? Early in September too? Thanks Mikeru22 :)

I've watched this clip as well prior to pursuing my application for RN HEALS, although the interviewee pointed out some glitches in the program, the benefits are actually greater than the loop holes mentioned. I am not referring to he monetary incentives but the training and experience that you'll get in 12 months. If you are to choose between volunteering without any incentives and RN HEALS training, you would realize that this is far better because you will be receiving a guaranteed PHP 8,000 monthly...not to mention the possibility of getting absorbed in the hospital after the training (although the backer system in DOH hospitals is worst haha). Well consider your options wisely, if you can surely get into any hospitals without getting through any lengthy trainings as a staff nurse right away then it's better not to go for RN HEALS anymore.

I have been part of RN HEALS batch 4 since January and although there are a lot of things I don't like that have been going on, I am more thankful because I have already learned a lot in terms of patient handling and performing various nursing responsibilities independently, dependently and interdependently. :D
