I mean theres no way it takes just two years; why is it an "ADN"? It takes the around same amount as a BSN; but its outcome is different.
A BSN program should only take 4 years total if ou don't have to repeat anything. Every BSN program I've looked at has confirmed this.
Well at the schools that I am applying to pre-reqs are required. Which include chem, micro, a&p, etc. You have to take pre-reqs before applying. All schools have different requirements. The curriculum is four semesters after pre-reqs and actually that's at two of the main BSN programs in my area. So that's why a BSN program here would take a little longer than 8 semesters or 4 years depending on how much workload you take on.
So if your school didn't require it Bravo for you!
I'm not saying these schools don't require prereqs. Looking at four college's/universitie's BSN programs, they all have similar curriculums. Each require about 40-50 hours of prereqs before being admitted to the nursing school. Their recommended curriculums allow for 3 semesters to complete those prereqs which includes the Nursing Fundemental course(you know: hand washing, bed making, etc). Then the Nursing program is completed in 5 semesters at all of the schools.Well at the schools that I am applying to pre-reqs are required. I don't think pre-reqs are new.
The CC I got my ADN from in 1990 required all the general degree requirements PLUS the sciences (60ish credits) be complete before you could be accepted into the nursing program.
My ADN program was 6 quarters with summer off (18 months total). Each quarter was 16+ credits and took up 40+ hours a week, there wasn't time to take any other classes.
