Hello!
I am graduating with my BSN in August and am interested in relocating to Chicago. I was looking at the University of Chicago and had not seen any information for a new graduate nurse residency. Has anyone gotten a new grad RN job with University of Chicago? All of the staff nurse jobs on their website requires 1 year minimum of experience. Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, UChicago has a nurse residency program. They do not have job postings that are specific to new grad nurses. If you are hired as a RN and you are a new grad, you will be automatically enrolled in the new grad residency program. I've worked there for 2 years and overall I've had a good experience. When I started as a new grad, I was not able to apply until I passed my NCLEX. Good luck!

So do you recommend going ahead and applying to jobs that say "2 years nursing experience required", and they would just automatically enroll us in the new grad residency if hired? I'm just not sure how I would get hired as an RN to actually get into a residency program with there only being jobs listed that require experience (if that makes sense). Thank you!

Yes I recommend applying to jobs even if the description says 2 years nursing experience required! You have nothing to lose! If they are open to new grads they will select your for an interview after reviewing your resume. Good luck.
