Does your single state license get deactivated as you apply for your multi-state compact license?

I am a NJ nurse with a single-state license, I want to upgrade to a multi-state license. Will the process of obtaining my multi-state license temporarily deactivate my license I have already? Or will I still be able to work. I have already check the boards website and they did not cover this topic.

    No, your license number remains unchanged and active. Once your application to multi-state / compact is approved your status will change from single state to multi-state.
