Does a PDA really help?

I heard a PDA is a really good tool to have while becoming a nurse. What exactly can it help with? I wanna be as organized as possible and if a PDA helps with that I may look into purchasing one.

Thanks in advance

I know this will sound dumb  ....but I am lost as to which one to buy. I looked at the Epocrates & really liked it, but.....how do you know which to order??? I want what you have on yours. Thanks for your help

I have Epocrates Essentials, the version with all the products included. It was a little pricey, but worth it, and tax deductible. :)

It has the Rx, Dx, Labs, Pathogen ID, and all kinds of data tables, and also a Med Tool with drip rate calculator, med math and some doc alert stuff. I like the Epocrates because it is all under one heading, you can go across the top and select and switch easily between the programs without leaving and going back to the desktop. HTH :)

i use mine all the time and its so much easier than carrying my drug book and pdr's and lab values books around i just downloaded it all to my pda plus it keeps my class and clinicals schedule straight.. as well as my kid's schedules haha. i would definatley recommend it!!! I have a dell and i love it!

Ok here I go again....They have a palm & pocket pc ( I am sure ya'll know that)..... So which do ya'll suggest & what is the brand/version name. I watched the demo online, & I am really liking what I see.

I am thinking of investing in a Dell Axim also. My husband and I already have a Dell computer and have had good results with it. Plus, the company my dh works for gets good deals from them and offers the employees the discounts also. The main thorn in my side is the yearly cost associated with Epocrates Essentials. Whew!

I have a pocket pc. I have an HP iPaq, but can't remember the model number. I just did a bunch of research, kind of narrowed it down and then went with which one I could find the best deal on. Good luck...I did not enjoy the search. LOL

I'm still trying to decide too. Do I really need a pocket pc? Or would a simple PDA, like the palm, be sufficient? I guess if do some more price comparisons, that will help me decide.

To be completely honest, I wish I would have bought one that was also a phone. I do get tired of carrying both around, and then I bought a Nano, so now I have three things. I could have put music on the iPaq, but I wanted something small to take to the gym.
