Does Nursing School hate multiple transcripts?

Published

I went to a state university, attended 2 community colleges (in and out of state), and also took Independent Study courses. That's about 5 transcripts in total. Does Nursing School generally hate that?

Why would they hate that? Just having multiple transcripts isn't bad, it's what's on the transcripts that could be bad. Most people have 2-3 so 5 isn't that much more. There's probably people here on allnurses that have way more than 5 transcripts, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Just make sure that you submit every single transcript, even if you took only one class, even if you transferred in that one class, even if you took that one class many years ago.

Speaking from experience here. It is definitely a hassle to get multiple transcripts submitted but it's a bigger hassle to get your application held up if you don't have your ducks in a row.

Yes, there are people on here who have more than 5 transcripts.

Schools generally ask for transcripts from ALL of your prior colleges.

Was once told in the past (not NS) that if I didn't get a transcript from a college I took one summer course in, years upon years earlier, they'd find out, my application would be disqualified, AND they wouldn't bother to let me know. Tough place. Didn't go there.

I'd say they are used to dealing with it. My school managed to wade through 5 transcripts, 1 of which was international.

Best advice - if you are entering the application process - request all those transcripts NOW. Request twice as many as you think you need, and have them mailed to YOU. That way you can send your school one big package of all your transcripts - decreases the chance of losing one or two important ones along the way.

i have to order six transcripts ( yes, 6 ... :eek: ) for every nursing application i submit, and i spend a total of $25 in fees each time (two are free, thankfully, but the other four range from $3 to $10). in fact, only 3 of those transcripts have grades relevant to prereqs or my prior bachelor's degree -- but they still need them all ... :p

but despite the multiple transcripts i have been waitlisted at one nursing school and accepted at another, so i debunk the myth that multiple transcripts are a real issue in admissions. i agree with another's post, it's what's on your transcript that matters!

and when i think about it, my nursing school will eventually become transcript #7 :(

What a relief. Thanks everyone. Boy, it sure would suck if you were to order 5 transcripts to 9 schools, lets say - and get rejected. That's my biggest fear, but I have very high grades so I'd hope for the best. You guys are right, it's whats on the transcripts that counts.

@Paco69 - Yes that is transcript #7!!
