Does it matter whether I have an AA or AS degree?

Are you going to community college for nursing or for something else? I have an AS in early childhood education, but I can't transfer for a BSN with that. I'm starting with the associates degree in nursing and then I'll hopefully transfer somewhere for a BSN. Is this what you were planning to do? As far as I know, you can't transfer for a BSN with just any associates degree.

It's okay! It is a general core class program, so it just says AS or AA. It guarantees you being able to transfer to a four year university without having to take extra classes and things like that. I didn't want to go the ADN program because not all of the classes transfer ( including the nursing ones) and it would be a waste of time retaking classes.

I graduated from a cc in May of last year with an AA in child development and an AA in social and behavioral science, I then transferred to a BSN program that fall. Now I'm just weeks away from entering my senior year.

You can definitely transfer into a BSN program with any AA degree, as long as you have your pre-reqs completed. It took me an extra year to get my AA degrees because I was also completing pre-reqs.

The best thing to do is meet with a academic adviser and have them map out the best route to transfer to a BSN program. Good luck!

Whether you get an AA or AS degree doesnt matter. All that matters is that your pre reqs are complete. I would imagine and AS would be the better route as it will reuire more sciences and less literacy. Getting the AA would likely have a few extra humanities/literacy courses. Furthermore, you don't actually need an associates degree at all to transfer to a BSN program. Again, just having the pre reqs is enough. Well good grades of course, but a degree is not generally a requirement at all.

Also be carefully. The track you are in is likely an arts or sciences transfer track. While it is correct that you can transfer to a university with either degree, those degree tracks alone do not guarantee you will meet the requirements for application to a BSN program. Contact the advisors at the BSN programs you plan to apply to. Ask them for the required pre req course lists. Take those classes.

I am in an ASN program that I will graduate from this December. I am also going to have an AGEC as of 3 weeks from now. AGEC is the AZ general ed degree and is similar to an AA/AS. I am completing my AGEC degree purely to meet the humanities and literacy requirements for the university RN-BSN program that I will also be starting this fall. Having that degree with make it so I have 4 less gen ed classes to take at the university. However, that degree alone would not have included all the pre reqs requirements for the university. Some of my sciences and another class or two dont even count toward that degree.

Okay, it looks like I did misunderstand. I'm sorry. Maybe I was thinking of the RN-BSN programs? Or maybe I just have no idea what I'm talking about, haha. I'm glad some more knowledgeable people were able to give you better responses!
