Does it matter?

Nursing Students General Students

I am a 3rd year bio student at CU denver and have recently (thank god!) decied to enter a nursing program. This might be a common question but, does it reall matter where you get your nursing degree? I would love to go to a university, but the wait list are an average of 2 years! will I be looked down apon if I go to a "trade" school? does anyone have experience with this?

thanks!

:balloons: welcome brooke! :)

[color=#483d8b]first things first.........you cannot afford to allow what other people think of you to bother you in life. that insecurity will follow you through any program, career, job, college, relationships/marriage, or social realm of your life unless you learn to deal with it and begin to care only about what you think of yourself. :icon_hug: you must matter to you in order to keep going in life because there will always be those nit picky nosey bodys who luv nothing more than to tear other people down. you know the old saying....misery loves company? :)

[color=#483d8b]now...to your question..........what nursing program will you feel comfortable attending? then, go for that program no matter the wait. it sounds like you are just as bothered about attending programs that are not at a university level, so spare yourself the torture, and stay in the university setting. :)

Make sure the program you choose is accredited.

If you are going to go for your RN, then there aren't any "trade schools" for that. Either a hospital-based Diploma program or an ADN would be two years or so. also depends if you finish up your four year degree first..............

For the LPN, there are "trade" schools available...............

Hope that this helps.................. :)

I think my post was miss read. I didnt mean that I as a person would be looked down apon. I should reword it.:D I ment to ask if empolyers look at what school a nurse went to as a deciding factor. there is a "trade" school here(denver school of nursing) that has a lpn-rn two year program and a 4 year rn as well. They are accredited. Yes I am going to finish my bio degree.I am just curious if anyone has ever been turned down or passed over because they didnt get a university RN degree? ( of course I'm sure it happens, but how offten?)

thanks
