Does George Brown College put all their applicants on waitlist?

Hi,

I'm a mature female that has been out of high school for a few years. I applied to George Brown College for Practical Nursing (the program that is supposed to begin in January) and I'm still on a waiting list even though the program begins in about a month. Do I still have a chance? Anyone else had to wait this long before getting accepted to George Brown? I'm really hoping I get accepted to that school. I don't understand why they ever even put me on the damn waiting list!!! I had to write a Math, Science, and English admission tests. All my answers for the science part were pretty much just guesses because I totally blanked out when I was writing it. I probably really effed up on the science part, but I'm pretty sure I did exceptionally well on the the math and english tests. I wouldn't be surprised if I got 100% on the math part, but I also wouldn't be surprised If I got, like, 2% on the science part. Ahhhhh.......... I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack and die soon If I don't get accepted!

You have to get a certain % on each part of the admissions test. Depending on the grades of the other students who wrote it, that will determine the minimum % requirement for acceptance.

For example, if 100 people wrote the math, science, english admissions test & the average % was 85 for the group, an 85% would be required to get accepted.

Also, i'm positive you need at least a 65% on each part to get in. So if you failed the science part, your not getting in, no matter how good you did in math. Have you not called GB and asked them your results, or status of application? Mind you, if they havn't accepted you by now, you probably didn't get high enough on the admissions tests. George Brown is pretty easy to get into though, I know a lot of people who left Mohawk's RPN program halfway through and got into GB writing the same tests. Whatever you do, don't go to Mohawk.

Hi 2bNurse-88; Just wondering why you advise the op not to attend Mohawk College. I did not go to Mohawk but I am just curious as to the quality of this school.

oy, i wrote out a post and lost it :( alas, hello!

i cannot speak for your school however at algonquin college exams just finished writing on thursday. i just finished writing my finals for a pre-health program i was taking in order to meet the prereq's needed for the january 2010 intake of pn. on friday our marks were being submitted to the registrars office and then on monday they will begin sending out complete acceptance letters so i wouldn't worry yet, but perhaps monday check your ocas or call the school to get your status.

i too am currently only conditionally accepted but once all marks are in from fall semester i'm sure you'll see something happen before christmas, algonquin is working right up till noon on christmas eve :) monday will be the day i'll be looking for something!

good luck!

Sailor85, you need 15 contributory posts in order to be able to send PMs. You're almost there.

I HIGHLY doubt I got over 65% on the science part. I seriously didn't know the answer to almost any of the questions. I'd be surprised if I got more than 3 right answers, but it was a multiple choice test, so....

Hey Sailor85,

I need help with the RPN assessment test at George Brown. Do you know what I should study on? Especially the biology/chemistry one?
