Hi all!
I am a little stressed as I have a criminal history and am now attempting to get my license. I have submitted my documents and letter of explanation. My oldest offense was 15 years ago when I turned 18. It was a case of being with the wrong people and place, at the wrong time. Fast forward and I was married to a man in an abusive relationship, one night things got out of hand as I tried to leave the home and he would not physically allow me. I was charged with domestic violence 3rd degree for fighting back. This was eventually dismissed as proof showed that I was not the primary or only offender.
Has anyone recently gone through the process of becoming licensed with similar history? I am praying it all works out but I am worried, as anyone in my position would be.
Thanks in advance.

I received my license in September 22. My charges were 18 years prior to my application for licensure. I hired an attorney because I was not sure of the process and did not want to take any chances. My license was approved after submitting my documents and letter of explanation. My application did not require an additional review by GBON.
I did have someone in my cohort that was not honest in their initial application and they did have to be reviewed by the board. I think that given the length of time since your charge and the charge itself, you will be fine. It is a stressful situation and very little information is available for comfort.

Just be honest and don't leave anything out and I would imagine you will be just fine.
Update:
I was given my ATT after providing all the documentation they had requested with the application. I sit on Saturday for my exam! yay
Passed my NCLEX and issued my license yesterday. I will be starting a residency program in the ER on 7/24. It all worked out! Hopefully, this gives others some hope in their similar journey/situation.

Hi dear! I am so happy it worked out. I am in a similar situation. I don't apply for boards until the end of the year but I am trying to make sure I have everything needed before then. I noticed that you said you submitted your documents and letter of explanation. Did they require more information after that? I already got a certified copy of the dispositions, what else would they need?

No, restrictions and approved for Multistate license. The charge was extremely minor.

Hi, I'm currently in the mist of failing twice of the HESI A2 test. Was wondering how do you go about trying to take the test again and if someone can tell me, what am I doing wrong or help me with studying or some better studying techniques?
