Does a degree from west coast university transfer to cal state?

U.S.A. California

Hello.

I have been trying to find out if an associates degree from West Coast University is accepted at either Cal State L.A. or Cal State Northridge.

I tried contacting the schools but got the run around instead.

I'm really interested in attending WCU, but I want to clarify this first.

I know I could go to Univ. of Phoenix and other private school.

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.:)

Hi everyone! First time posting on here. I have noticed that a lot of people are concerned with the accreditation of WASC (I think that's the one), which allows you to progress to an MSN degree after earning a BSN. I am also looking into WCU BSN program and remain nervous about making a decision. I have completed most of the prerequisites at a CC (about 3-4 remaining) but have reached a point where I feel the desire to move on instead of waiting around for acceptance from a Community College RN program. There is something I have been considering and would like to hear what you folks think: After completing a BSN at WCU and being fortunate enough be hired as an RN, I am considering doing a second BA/BS degree at a traditional university-part time, after which I would be eligible to apply to any MSN program. Atleast, this way I could be working (earning and gaining experience, which many MSN programs prefer) while also getting a BA/BS degree from an accredited univ. True, this route would entail waiting a few years before starting the MSN program but it is an option I am considering.

I do have a question for anyone who has done their research: After earning a BSN from WCU, do you have the option of applying for RN to BSN bridge program at a traditional university (even though you have already earned a BSN)?

Thanks for your advice and comments in advance!

Bottom line is that WCU is not accredited by the WASC which is the main regional accrediting body of all the JC's CSU's and UC's in California. WCU is only nationally accredited which means squat. You may only be able to transfer credits to another private school that is not regionally accredited such as University of Phoenix, etc. I hear that WCU is on the verge of trying to get that WASC accreditation but it will take a few years to complete. Last I heard they are in the beginning phase of the accreditation. Check with the school and see how their progress is concerning this issue.

WCU has the MSN program but is also expensive though!

They're WASC accredited now.

So here's my dilemma, I took all my pre-reqs at Miami Dade College. My end goal is to go to CSULA and get a Masters in N.P. I want to attend WCU for my BSN. Now that they're WASC accredited, I shouldn't have any trouble transferring to CSULA, right? Looking to get into the N.P program sometime 2015. I emailed someone from CSULA's nursing program, and she told me she doesn't know and to ask admissions.

West Coast is now WASC accreditated, since Dec 2011. You can now transfer anywhere, but is expensive.

At the orientation, they made it clear that it is more than likely you can transfer to CSU/UC but that it depends whether the institution will accept you. Sounds a bit sketchy in my opinion.
