Does DCCCCD offer an LPN program?

Published

I requested information from here, and did not get anything specific to any nursing programs they offer-except the course cataloge. DiscoveryNursing.com said DCCCD did have an LVN and an RN program, but when I went to the website, the only information about an LVN program was an LVN-RN program. Hopefully someone will know if they offer both!

I've just found the site with info on there LVN program- duh. Can anyone tell me how competative this program is?

Hello, DCCCD does offer a LVN program. I'm not sure if I can post the link to the webpage though. If not, let me know and I'll remove it.

Ahh glad you found it! LOL!

I'm sorry, I don't really know much about El Centro's LVN program.

I know there RN program is next to impossible to get into, I am wondering if the requirements for LVN are just as stringent?

I'm not sure. I'm in the RN program right now, and it is difficult to get in. A little harder, I believe, now than it was.

I met someone who went through teh LVN program at El Centro and said that it took her a couple of times to get in. That was a few years ago though. Good luck!

If you do decide to apply, make sure that you have all A's in the required prereq's, and some if not all of the additional courses. The people that I know in the program had a 4.0 in the required courses, and at least half of the additional courses completed. I've applied for El Centro's spring class via distance learning, and I am waiting for my letter/phone call!! The process is very nerve-racking....

Hi Priddyeyez,

If you have a chance you should attend one of the info sessions to get more details. If I remember correctly I think attendance at one of the sessions is a requirement for admission. The next one is Dec. 15th @ 1pm.

As far as getting into the program there were a couple of hundred applicants for 30 spots last fall so there is definitely alot of competition. Admission is based on a point system. I have 7.5 pts as the lowest points accepted last fall in my notes but I'm not sure if that's correct. It seems kinda low to me but you might want to check with the Health Occupations office to verify that.

Hope that helps.

Sandy
