I know that with immigration to Canada you "lose points" once you reach age 50 and it makes me wonder if Australian VISA procedure is the same way.
Going from USA to Australia.
What is the best way to get information on wanting to live and work in Australia?
What about permanent residence?
What is the best city to start out in? Or just tell me about your city. :)
Can you earn a living wage as a nurse? Still have money to pay rent and everything you need while not having to share a residence.
Or will the hospital you work for give you a residence?
Is there a nursing shortage in Australia? Are they still looking for/willing to hire foreign nurses.
I've heard Health Staff Recruitment is the way to go. True?
Anything else I may have forgotten. Just looking for any recent info on Australia. :heartbeat Some threads here are old. Thanks;)

If you have a look at their website for immigration, you will find all of their requirements.
I would start with that.
I did already search thru the website but there was nothing noted on this particular. It's the same with the Canadian website. I don't think any website will actually list that they are not as interested in people aged 50+. But on the Canadian website they award points based on answers to questions and the points go down once a person reaches age 50 and go down more for each year over 50. So I wondered if it was the same with Australia.

I know for some visas there is an age limit of 45 for Australia
You're right SilverDragon
Here is the cut and paste from the website on Immigration
This visa allows you to migrate to Australia if you have good English language skills and have skills and qualifications in an occupation in need in Australia.
You must:
* be under 45 years of age
* have the skills and qualifications that meet the Australian standard for an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
* meet the two year study requirement, or meet the recent work experience requirement (you must have worked for 12 months in the last 24 months in any occupation on the SOL)
* meet the English language requirement.

These are the requirements for the Skilled Independent Migration which gives you Permanent Residency and allowing you to migrate to Australia permanently without having an employer first. To come to Australia on a Working Visa (457) and be a Temporary Resident sponsored by your employer I don't believe there is an age limit. You must, however, pass the medical exam and fulfill the requirements of the visa, including being hired by your employer before you submit your application.
