Does anyone work at Parkland Medical Center?

I just obtained a position there and wanted to see if there is anyone else on here who works for this hospital. I don't have a start date yet as I'm waiting for my NH license to go through. I loved the unit when I toured and the staff seem very nice.

It would not be my first choice.

It sounds like your first impressions were very good and I wish you well.

I think you will find that it's not the most supportive environment for nursing.

I did a clinical there in the Spring of 2008. I have never seen so many unhappy/nasty med-surge nurses in one place. There were a few that seemed happy but you could not pay me enough to work in that environment. The nurses on the cardiac and the vascular units were a lot better tempered. Just my 2 cents.

yikes. do you know anything about the pediatrics/obgyn/lifespan unit?

I did my clinical leadership days up on the lifespan pedi unit and the staff seemed a lot nicer there. Maybe it was because me and my freshman nurse were acting as their aides for the day. The staff seemed appreciative. I personally would never work there but that is my perspective.
