OKAY IT'S A MONTH OF RECEIVING MY LPN LICENSE AND CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A JOB ANYWHERE. EVERYWHERE I GO THEY TELL ME "YOU NEED A YEARS WORTH OF EXPERIENCE" AND I'M THINKING OKAY..... I CAN'T GET EXPERIENCE IF NO ONE HIRES ME! I'M SURE ALL THE NURSES WORKING AT THE FACILITIES DIDN'T COME OUT OF NURSING SCHOOL WITH EXPERIENCE FLOATING AROUND THEM, SOMEBODY GAVE THEM A CHANCE INCLUDING THE D.O.N AND SUPERVISORS. IT'S NOT LIKE I HAVE NO KIND OF KNOWLEDGE WHAT THE CLINICAL SETTING IS ALL ABOUT, CAUSE I'VE WORKED IN ACUTE CARE FOR OVER 5 YEARS, SO WHY WON'T ANYONE HIRE ME! I HAVE APPLIED TO EVERYWHERE I CAN THINK OF. PLEASE HELP... DOES ANYONE LIVE IN MARYLAND THAT KNOWS OF A PLACE THAT IS HIRING NEW GRADS?

I'm more in the DC-area market now but this is really weird! It was my experience that new grads were scarfed up really fast, mostly by LTC of course. Are you actually going in person to apply, dressed professionally, with a resume and references etc.? I know that might sound simplistic but you'd be surprised at the people that just call and say to whoever answers the phone "you hiring" without even introducing themself.
Since you have acute care experience I would check back with your old supervisor and co-workers to see if they have any openings or ideas. You can contact your school and see if they have heard of any positions and definitely call former classmates to see where they are working.
If you are getting interviews but are not getting hired I would get someone to critique and coach you on interviewing. Even in this time of online applications I think that face time is invaluable if you have a certain place you want to be. Good luck.
thanks for replying. I have went to 8 facilities so far to fill out applications and that's not including online applications. I recently received a call from one of the online applications that I filled out thinking they were calling me for an interview, but they just called just to tell me a don't hire new grads. Isn't that stupid?, I felt like giving it to her! I go in each time dressed as if I'm going in for an interview, resume and all and nothing. I call back to check up on my application and they tell me they don't hire new grads come back in a year. And yes, I've even checked to see if any openning at my local hospital and no openning left for lpn's. Checked with co-workers to see if they know of any connection or hookup's, they said they would get back to me. I just frustrated with the whole situation. Maybe you know of any place that is hiring(knew grads off-course) PM me if you know.

I know that it is slim pickings for LPNs compared to RNs but I know LPNs that have gotten jobs from this fair in past years.

YES! THe federal government is hiring, and is always hiring. In some cases you can even get some type of mentor program. There are many LPNs that once they get under a GOOD RN, or LPN they can really take off. Don't limit yourself to just LTC facilities! http://www.usajobs.gov goood luck!!!
I Found A Job....thanks For All The Support
