The Indiana State Board of Nursings website just has a generic message basically saying that it is on hold---the law passed but something happened. No date when this was posted or why or when or if they expect it to go into effect? Any info would be appreciated.

I don't know - but the website has said that for months!!! I wish Indiana was a compact state already!!!
Well that at least answers one question. I had no idea how long it had been on there. I sent an email to the address on their website, I will call on Monday. If I find anything out, I will post. Thanks for the info.
Please keep us posted - Thanks! :)

It is actually stuck in a committee. It was introduced as HB 1240. The problem is when it gets to a committee, if the members of the committee don't have an interest in nursing, then the bill will get stalled there. We as nurses need to lobby our local legislators to get it passed. Or we need to go and speak to the committee. It went back to a committee because of wording changes.
If you haven't been to a committee meeting, I highly recommend it. The ISNA usually has a miniconference that takes interested nurses to see legislators and educate you on how it all works. Very interesting!

just read an article on www.advocatefornurses.typepad.com if you click on the link and read the article it states that the reason for the hold is that reporting infractions of nurses in the state of Indiana ;goes through the Attorney General's office and REPORTS to the Indiana State BON which is different than in most other states. Inidana is working with the NLC to revise the rules for Indiana. The end of the article states that they are aming for a target date of July 2009 for Indiana to have status in the NLC Hurray!!!!!
