Hey There!
I am soo interested in getting into TCH! I've been away from bedside nursing working on raising up my youngest (6 yo) who is now in school FT (yahooo!).
Seems like this is the ONLY hospital that has ANY program for experienced nurses returning to acute care.
Anyone have any experience in this area? Know anything about the program? About Children's in Denver?
Skyridge actually recommended I do the "refresher course"...After investigating - DORA recommends nurses who have EXPIRED licenses do this..NOT! I have two current - CA and CO and all CEUS - current and BLS...And can renew PALS also! And then to get in...pay $2200 to ACC and WAIT six mos..and then sit around and do labs and then give away 120 hours..huh!!!??? Adult Onc, Peds, PICU and float to NICU...I just can't quite believe there's really a nursing shorage if this is the response I get! And I worked for Columbia in CA (same as Health One - same as Skyridge..YIKES!!!)
Okay - just looking for a little info.
Thanks!!

I think the suggestion you do a refresher course is insulting. I know of many RN's who took time off for family and returned to nursing. The difference was then, there wasn't the competition. I think you should go visit nurse managers at Children's with resume in hand. Good luck!
