  1. Hahahaha, A New car or house...good joke! I paid my bills, just like i've done with all my pay checks.
  2. I don't mean to be rude do sorry of this comes off that way. But as a non believer I respect every ones right to practice any religion they choose and It's their right to have your own believe system whatever it may be with out others judging them or telling them their wrong. And for people like you to push their beliefs on others and disrespect their belief system is not in any way ok. You are exactly the reason this person is skeptical of taking a job at a Christian facility. We don't come up to your face and tell you god isnt real, don't get in ours and imply in any way that "god" has any part is her life or this decision. Learn to be more tolerant and accepting of different beliefs, and to keep yours to yourself.
  3. I'm atheist also, and used to work at a catholic hospital, whenever the pastor/reverend was on the unit he would offer to prey with all the staff, I just politly declined as did most the staff. If you happen to be in the room when a pt. or family wants to pray, and wants you to join I would just bow my head and say amen" at the end, then try to leave before they could ask any questions about my belifs. The only problem I ever had working there was they refused to carry or administer birth control, even if it wasbeing given for another reason. Once we had an emergency where the lady needed a large dose of estrogen asap, and the ER doc wasn't able to get it because the facility didn't carry it because it was considered birth control. Stuff like that frustrates be beyond belief, but other than that I had no problems working there.
  4. I've had 5 interviews in the last few months, and haven't got any of the jobs...apparently I just suck at interviewing. I feel like when people hear that I work in home health I'm automatically put at the bottom of the list. I work 12 hour shifts, doing pretty much everything that nurses do in the hospital, I have a ton of skills, I don't just go to people houses for a few minutes to check in on them, which is what i feel like all the hospitals think I do. Do I need to be up-selling my clinical skills more? I'm a quiet person, and I'm pretty sure it comes across that I'm pretty nervous/uncomfortable during the interviews. Is that the reason I keep getting passed up? My go to questions are "what will my orientation be" and "what are you looking for in a nurse/ team member?" Are those good questions, or should I be asking something different? Is it possible I come across too desperate? I want a different job so much, and I know I would excel at any position I was offered, how can I make the interviewers see that? Please, Hiring managers and other nurses and administrators interviewing people, please tell me what you are looking for in a candidate? what do I need to say, how do i need to act to make you hire me?
  5. i agree with eveyone else, definatly dart, when i went to get the gardasil vaccine a few years ago the girl doing it went in super slow, then look at least 15-20 sec. to push the vaccine in, I was about to kick her it hurt soo bad.
  6. blue sky will custom make scrubs to your measurments. I'm about the same size as you, and i tried on an xxs pair of dickies that were wayy too small for even me, just go to a scrub shop and try on whatever xxs they have, only a few brands make them. good luck
  7. dickies hip flip are pretty skinny, blue sky also has a skinny scrubs and they can custom make them to your size and length
  8. Thank you! I applied for the job months ago, and they just called me in for an interview, but the job posting had already been taken down.
  9. I'm in a similar situation to you, 2010 RN, only have experience in home health, trying to find a job at a hospital. While the hospitals do hire you as an "experienced nurse", its because they can't label you as a new-grad anymore. All the interviews I've been on they've told me that I'll get 6-8 weeks orientation. Have you specifically asked what your orientation would be? I doubt any hospital would just throw you right in, without orientation. Just because you're hired as an experienced nurse doesn't mean you don't get any training.
  10. Just from reading you're post, my inital thought was you seem to have a lot more passion for working in a lab. I think nursing might be frustrating for you, not being able to go deeper into the science of it. In nursing school I was the one asking my preceptors why, and what does that do, hoping for more scientific answers, and get more knowledge about disease processes, cause and effect of processes and medication effects, most the time the only answer I got was "I don't know." Other than studying on your own for your own curiosity I can't think of a specialty in nursing, especially patient care that would quench your thirst for knowledge. Maybe something to do with pathology would be a good match.
  11. I was wondering if any could tell me what a nursing clinical research coordinator does, and what kind of interview questions would you expect them to ask for that position? Thanks!
  12. I've been trying to get a job somewhere else since i started 2 years ago! I don't know whats wrong with me or my resume but I can not seem to get hired at a hospital or even a clinic. I'm so discouraged. At lease this year I've gotten a couple interviews, but I haven't been chosen for the positions. I know it's a tough, competitive job market, but I'm really losing hope that I'll ever be able to find a job outside of home health. I've gotten good feedback from my interviews, one said I wasn't "bubbly" enough compared to the person they chose. Sorry I'm a quiet person, and don't have a super "bubbly" personality, but that doesn't mean I'm not a good nurse. when I think of a Bubbly person I think of a teenage girl that won't shut up and that's super annoying, not many nurses i've met act like that at all. I just don't know what more I can do to be considered a good candidate for a job.
  13. I ment to add that I really do like the families I work for. I just can't stand doing nothing all night
  14. How do you say it's not you it's me to your employer? I work as a home health nurse working nights. Most my patients I do very little to no nursing I'm no more than a glorified babysitter watching a kid sleep. I'm going insane! I just want to use my skills how do I nicely say take me off these cases and give me someone I can learn from ?!
  15. I completely agree with you. I'm a newer nurse too (2 yes experience) but only in home health, I would LOVE to get experience in a hospital and try out ER, NICU, ,L&D, or even an outpatient clinic. But I can't even get my foot in the door because I have no acute care experience. It's beyond frustrating, and even the jobs I do get an interview for I'm interviewing with 20 other people! I'm stuck in a field I don't really enjoy, and learn very little in. I hope this horrible job market turns around soon.
