Does anyone have interview at MTSA/or current student

Nursing Students SRNA

HI,

I have an inteview at MTSA in a few short weeks. Just wondering if anyone else has one and how are you gettting ready for this?

Found an older post but it was started back in 2006?

If anyone is current student I would take any advise you will give me.

I know this year they are giving patients to the hopeful student and I am guessing will be asking all kinds of questions according to which ICU you work in.

Almcco, I hope you end up getting a spot! Out of curiosity, how did they notify you of being an alternate? Via a letter in the mail or a phone call? And what did they state was the timing? When will you find out one way or the other? Good luck!

A letter in the mail. It doesnt say when I will find out, just that you all have until this thursday to pay and tell them if you want the spot that they offered, and if some people dont, then they will start calling us. BUT I have been accepted into another schoo lthat starts in FEB, so im leaning more that way. A guy i know that goes to MTSA was an alternate and wasnt notified until a couple weeks before school started in july!

Is everybody getting excited for school? I'm a little nervous thinking I should be frantically studying until classes start in July. Anyone have any tips on what we should be doing to "prepare"?

I'm super excited, especially considering my work environment is deteriorating at a rapid pace! I thought having an end in sight would make it easier to come into work each day, but I found that it is quite the opposite!

I was debating on buying a basic nursing anesthesia book (there is actually a great-reviewed book that can be downloaded on iphones/ipads but I'm not sure that I want to spend the $80.00 to get it) and reading up on the basics prior to our start date, but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

I DID download a countdown timer app on my iphone that counts down to July 24, 7am CST. We have 94 Days, 18 Hours, 32 Minutes, and 50 Seconds. :)

Yes, I have been looking through one of the recommended texts from the school (for our interviews). But I've been seeing that we should just enjoy the time we have before school starts, so I'm going with that! :)

I was notified the day after Easter by mtsa, asking if I'd like to join the class :( if only that call would've come a lot sooner! I started at another school in Feb. Take my advice: don't try studying or looking at anything before you start. Enjoy your freedom!!!

Hey RN910,

What'd you think about orientation at MTSA? Did it stress you out as much as it stressed me out (e.g. inch-thick packet on 12-Lead EKGs, inch-thick packet on Arrythmias, Summer Drug List, and Summer Reading)?? I'm attempting to memorize the Summer Drug List currently and have most of it sort-of memorized. The Peak, Onset, and Duration times for each med seem to just jumble up in my head with all of the other meds! Hah! Are you planning on doing the summer reading in full, or just peruse it briefly? I had every intention of studying every single thing they suggested, but between quitting my job and moving from New Orleans up to Nashville, my plate is kind of full this summer.

Anyways, I'm super excited for July 24th to get here, and to find out more specifics regarding our clinical rotations and site assignments. If you have a FB account, look me up (Justin Eagle). It'd be nice to be in touch with as many other classmates as possible just so we can keep each other in check throughout the first Block and Broadfields, as well as having potential study partners/groups.

Bump....I want to make sure we keep this thread going. My goal is to apply to MTSA and Union University in 2015. I will have my 2 years experience by then.
