Does anyone have interview at MTSA/or current student

Nursing Students SRNA

HI,

I have an inteview at MTSA in a few short weeks. Just wondering if anyone else has one and how are you gettting ready for this?

Found an older post but it was started back in 2006?

If anyone is current student I would take any advise you will give me.

I know this year they are giving patients to the hopeful student and I am guessing will be asking all kinds of questions according to which ICU you work in.

Hopefully that will carry some significant weight, becuase like I have said over and over, it was BRUTAL! I walked out and immediately wanted to run back in there and say, "Wait, I meant to also say....!!"

LOL. Hopefully in exactly 1 week from this moment, we will be sleeping soundly, knowing that by 2014, we will be board certified CRNAs. ;)

Yes, so now until next week...no sleep for us! Going back to work tomorrow night will be rough! I'm trying to act like today never happened and wasn't quite so hard. Oh well, it's out of our hands at this point! Good luck to you!

Btw, did you apply to other schools? I haven't yet, but am in the process of getting things together for other institutions because today left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

No other applications. Kind of placed all my eggs in this basket! Hoping MTSA works out bc reapplication after a rejection requires a 3-credit hour graduate science course and 5 brand new references (my 5 were incredible and I'd have a hard time finding all new ones!)

Wow, didn't know about the science course....yikes! Same here, only one application so far. Agreed, finding new references would be difficult. I wish they would have asked more about "why" we chose MTSA/more traditional questions. I don't even feel like they know who I am or HOW much I want this...just kinda felt like a faceless person today!

I know exactly what you mean!!! I'm looking at it this way: I know acceptance is on a point system (so as to keep it 100% objective) and you get points in every aspect of the application; points for competitive GPA, good GRE scores, experience, etc. I know the interview panel members all had score sheets which included personal appearance, confidence, and knowledge base. Im sure they took all the applications and ranked us all before scheduling interviews. Being that we were the "most competitive" applicants I think it's safe to say that we were in the top 1/3 of the ranking list. Therefore we would have had to royally screw up our interviews to be sunk down into the bottom half, right? My thinking may be totally off. But it's all that is keeping me close to my sanity at this point! Haha.

Hopefully you are right. Not sure if I fared so well in the confidence or knowledge department (today). I have a fairly competetive GPA and decent GRE score. My appearance and professionalism was fairly strong, so hopefully that will give me "points." They MAY have used me as the example of "royally" screwing up hahaha!

...Regardless, I'm going with your theory as well to keep my sanity in check!

I think approximately 1/3 of all applicants got interviews this time around. They usually interview 2x the number of slots available. 72 right? So about 150 interviewed and 450 applied. Does that sound right??

When I spoke to the admission lady 4 days after the deadline she said they had received 173 applications. Are you sure about this 450 number? Just wondering. Had my interview sept 29th too, felt bad after, but now I can just wait. Best of luck to you all.

Like I said, I didn't know any of that info about number of applicants versus interviews granted. But anyway, I hope that other portions of our applications were strong enough to pull us through...hurry up Thursday!

I'm not sure about that number at all. I just did a little reverse math based off of the limited knowledge that I had about the applicant pool this year. If you spoke with someone at MTSA, then I would trust that number over mine. How do you think your interview went Viking?

The time is ticking away super slow despite a fun weekend! Come on Thursday!
