I'm a student nurse internship in a hospital and I care for the patients of contagious pulmonary tuberculosis is sometimes like. When new start I was quite worried aboutbut still strongly associated with the infection.

I imagine you're not from the US, and I'm unfamiliar with tb infection control in other countries. In the US, the risk of tb transmission is very low when the appropriate precautions are taken (masks, negative pressure rooms, etc). Sterilization probably doesn't have a big impact on reducing transmission as its an airborne illness, not spread by contaminated objects or surfaces. Maybe WHO has information you'd find helpful?

My unit has an active TB patient typically once every month or two.

We use PAPR masks and negative pressure rooms, and we don't have any problems with staff or other patients being infected.

It will depend upon which type of protective gear you have available to you.
