Hey everyone, does anyone out there have their PhD in nursing? And if so what did you specialize in? Also where would you recomend going to school? I am in the process of switching schools. Any feedback would be very much appreciated I just want to make sure i am going in the right direction and not wasting money on a school that is not going to help me out which is in the prediciment i am in right now. Any advice is strongly encouraged. please thank you

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

A PhD is a doctorate in philosophy, not nursing so not a clinical degree.

A DNP is a doctorate in nursing and is a clinical degree.

Which degree are you wanting to obtain?

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

And what 'predicament' are you currently in?

Yeah sorry i wasnt so clear on what i wrote earlier because i am torn kind of between getting the PhD and DNP. So thats the "PREDICAMENT" I am in. For the PhD I would like to be an independent researcher. However, with a DNP there are a lot more jobs and ways to move up the clinical ladder. I am torn between both. So yes thats the " PREDICAMENT" I am in.

I AM SO EXCITED! I just had submitted a post about whether or not to go for PhD or DNP. I just read my mail. i have insomnia on my nights off. Go Figure because I work night shift... anyways...... I have been accepted to John Hopkins University!!!!!!!!! I am going to go for my DNP!!!!!!!!

im so excited i cant help myself.... woo hoooooo:yes:

Has anyone ever attended john hopkins university school of nursing?
