I am very dissapointed by how nurses are treated by doctors. I recently started a new job where I get a first hand look at this (I am only a student) and it is very depressing. They are talked down to and just seem like glorified order takers. I am suprised the doctors don't expect them to go pick up their take out lunch for pete's sake.:deadhorse
Are there nice docs out there or am I just seeing the cranky, power trippy ones?? YIKES!!!:stone

Where I work there are a small handful of docs that are generally thought to be rude and arrogant, but the rest I have found to be wonderful even to a new graduate. Most I have found to be encouraging, will tell me where things are (explain what they look like if I just give them the huh??? look), and make sure they explain everything if I don't understand. That being said, I have had strips torn off me in front of other nurses and patients from an arrogant doc.
I have found that if you "talk the talk" and have all info handy when on the phone then the reception you get is likely to be a whole lot better.
It is such a steep learning curve as a new RN!
