Do you think this is too much?

I am bad at math, so I want to take College Algebra at my community college. It will be the traditional semester.

That class will start 8/28 and ends in December.

I am taking Intro to professional nursing at UTA starting 8/11. It ends in 5 weeks.

It will cross over into English 1302, which is 8 weeks and starts 8/18. Intro will end 9/12 and Engl 1302 will end 10/10.

Then, 9/22 Technical Writing starts and it is 5 weeks and will end 10/24. Actually just thinking of it I can't take Engl 1302 and Tech at the same time, so I can take the one that starts on 11/3. By then all I will have is College Algebra when Tech writing starts.

So I will have Algebra and Intro at the same time. Then, 1302 will cross over. Intro and English will end and will only have Algebra for a few weeks by itself until Tech writing begins.

Will this be too much?

    It really all depends on your home life. do you have a full time job or children? I personally wouldn't do that much at the same time but i work 40 hours a week and have three kids. I did end up taking 18 hours for two semesters but it was two courses at a time. It is probaby doable if you have plenty of time to read and complete assignments and have a good grasp on the subject content. i suck at math these days so i would not want to take it with any other class.

    So in summary it would be too much for me but it may not be for you.

    I agree with pp, it depends on what you've got going on in other areas. When I took my math classes, they were with a full course load. However, realizing that it was a weak area for me, I attended all sessions (4 days) of this class so that I was comfortable with the content and could grasp what was being taught. The instructor was supportive of my decision. In the end, I did better than the top student in my original class, and I was just hoping for a 'B'. I was working 2 jobs and still had other responsibilities at home. I made the Dean's list, for what that's worth. I would recommend taking sciences and a/p classes separately to devote time worthy of an 'A'. It was rough to juggle all these things at the same time for me but I did it. Classes that require a lot of writing content sometimes merge well together and can cluster (English, Sociology, Psych). You just have to see where your strengths are and make it work in your favor.     Make sure your Algebra class along with the others classes WILL be accepted in the nursing program first from that institution. I know to many people that went taken classes at a community college and not transfer especially in a BSN program. It happened to my wife.

    UTA is local to me, so it will transfer from the community college.
