I was just going thru the post about those nurses trying to get a job after graduating school, and am wondering if you are a graduate with hospital volunteer experience and or CNA experience, do you think this would help job prospects?
For those of us who are just starting our pre-reqs, as myself, do you think it is worthwhile to spend some time while in school? Will it be enough experience?
Thanks!

I am almost done with my pre-reqs, but the chances of me getting into the nursing program right away are pretty slim. I decided to start volunteering at a local hospital, at the advice of someone in human resources, so that I can start applying for jobs at the end of this semester. I am hoping to work as a unit assistant or something, until I can get into nursing school. I have been volunteering for about 4 months now and I've heard of quite a few volunteers who have been eventually hired by the hospital. It's only one afternoon a week; I figure it can't hurt to have it on my resume :)
