Do you say NICK_U or N-i-c-u?

Published

Just wondering how it's pronounced where you live. I used to work in a hospital and we said n-i-c-u, each letter, but I've heard others say it like a word, nicku. Don't want to be a dork and say it wrong in school. :p

Thanks, Tofutti

We say Nick-U, and our PICU is Pick-U. On a fun note, Our PICU is right next door to one of the adult ICU's - they often refer to us as "Big I" and "Little I"

We say ICN where I work but I've mostly heard it referred to as the nick-u.

Nick-u here in California. On a related note, a friend of mine who is a physician, mentioned her "objin". I had no idea what she was talking about, until she clarified "OB-GYN":lol2:

we say neonatal unit, although some say nursery, which drives the boss mad!!!

Nick U. I've heard all the names mentioned, though, and another which some of the hospitals here use, which is Special Care Nursery.
