Do you put seasonal work on your resume?

Hi I'm a new grad and I have been looking for a full time job as a nurse for over a month now. :uhoh3: As a matter of fact I can not even land part time work at hospitals or LTC's right now. Most apps say I must have 2 years of experience or they will accept no new grads. So I have accepted two seasonal prn flu clinc jobs. Well one is a flu clinic and a health screening teaching job. Since I have a family to care for I will be working them both to average out to full time work untill the season is over. My question is how would this look on a resume? Would you put it on yours. My only other nursing experience is nursing school. Before that I just have years of customer service call center work. I know flu clinics and health screenings are not eqivalent to hospital work. But I am wondering will it maybe help get my resume an actual look by a recuriter.

Also I am working on my Rn to BSN now, so i have been puting that on my resume. Do you think that helps or does not make a difference to recuriters? I put that I will have my BSN in 2011. I am thinking of paying for some nursing certifications like ACLS to try to make me more appealing to employers. Even though I have only been job searching for a month I am starting to get really discouraged. During nursing school we were pretty much told the hospitals would be beating down our doors to hire us. :uhoh3: I am just thankful I did not go to one of those 30,000 schools to become an RN. Then not only would I have a family to support but a huge amount of debt. Any suggestions about getting noticed by recruiters?

Definitely put both positions on there. It can't hurt. Also, putting your BSN coursework on there can't hurt either... but make sure you're doing it correctly. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Mysterious College Name Here, Expected completion date May 2012.

Submit resumes. E-mail and/or call recruiters to confirm receipt of resumes. Contact them approximately 1 and half to two weeks later to see where the hiring process is. It might not even hurt to send letters of reference WITH your resume... do you have one from your preceptor that speaks to your clinical skills? Most recent clinical instructors?

Thanks for the reply. I have recommendations from clinical instructors, and the nursing director of the school. I submit them as references and they write recommendations as needed. So far all that hasn't helped. I think I need to revamp my resume. I did not have BSN listed like that. I just had it as a bullet under education. Just trying to get into the swing of things with resumes and job hunting is throwing me for a loop. I had the same customer service job for 4 years before starting nursing school. I did not work during nursing school. So I think that is where my problem is. Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it!

Definitely include the clinic jobs and highlight the differences between them on your resume to show that you have gained different types of experience.
