Do they have orientation programs for night shift?

Published

I WANT to work nights.. anyone have an orientation during the night shift or is it always during the day? I'll have a real hard time doing an orientation during the day until I can switch to nights because of my husband's schedule and the fact we have a new baby!

I am working nights. I did have to do a weeklong hospital orientation on days. I'm also doing the HURST review so of course that is a week of days. Then I'm doing another week (3 days) on days until my regular preceptor is back from vacation and then I'll be on nights with her. We are going to do 1-2 day shifts a month because it works better for my schedule and it will give me a little taste of days (although I already know I loathe hospitals during the daytime lol..too much craziness!) I will also have to take an EKG class down the road and there are a few other occasional daytime things (ie skills labs etc)

:typing Hi,

I am starting my 7p-7a 6 month orientation for intermediate ICU on thursday. I will do at least 3 months at night and if there is a day class they will work my schedule around the class. I might go to days for a few weeks to learn about the differences in the 2 shifts but orientating at night is a possibility and slower paced for new grad RN.

hope you get what you want!!
