only RN's can get GC for immigration unless the person has come into the country via another visa like marriage

Green cards are only issued to RNs.

An LPN may obtain a spousal green card, meaning that they marry an American or a green card holder, but they cannot get a green card based on their LPN license.

I was under the impression if marrying a GC holder who has already got GC and in the US that it could still take a few years to move to the U. Is this true?

It will take at least two years but it can be done. But that is the only way and per immigration.

I have had contact from someone today that said an attorney told them that they could be "sponsored" --- that means that it is not a green card, the green card requires petitioning, and that it will be some type of tempoary visa, where they will be 100% at the fate of the facility, they can cancel the contract at any time and they will be required to leave the US within a short time. It would essentially be a visa for un-skilled worker, and plus the biggest issue is that the facility/agency could pay the nurse what ever they wanted, they are not required to pay the same that they pay to the green card holder or American. If it really does exist, run as fast as you can from it.

There are no green cards issued to an LPN based on their license. PERIOD.

It would only be based on their spouse.
