I have a dilemma, I am applying to this one school that is quite competitive but the problem is that they base their decision on all of your past school gpa. I have done well on all my preq and I would hate that to be a waste because I am going to be judged on highschool grades and some college grades that have nothing to do with the nursing field. I find it unfair that they are basing their decision on the past and not the present. I have been out of hs for over 10 years and I am not the same person and college i had a few slip ups so some of the grades are not that great. Anyways my question is do I have to submit every transcript? If I decide to not submit my college transcrip that I graduated would that be unethical? I did not take anything from undergrad that is required for the program except Sociology i think and i will take it over. All my other classes were taken at other schools and were very good grades. If I submit everything I am sure I will not get it. so I am torn.
@Tiffany, what was your GPA if you don't mind me asking?
I have a similar situation... didn't do so well at a previous college, struggled financially, now finished my associates degree and pre-reqs and looking to apply to nursing programs. I'm worried my grades from my previous school will haunt me. They are mostly courses that do not apply to the nursing major (social ecology, criminology).
well I go to a former community college but it is now just a college because they are beginning to offer four year degrees but this school is highly competitive but they don't ask for transcripts unless you want credit for those classes. I basically started over and in almost 70 credits I have all A's save for a B+, B, and a C+. It depends on which school you are trying to go to. I wanted to go to the local University but I was told if I couldn't provide my transcripts then I wouldn't be accepted because that is seen as academic dishonesty.
p.s. I can't provide my old college transcripts because I still owe my old school money and they won't allow me my transcripts until I pay the fee bill. ugh lame. If I had $10000 in the first place I would've paid it already duh!

If they say they want ALL transcripts then I'd given them all of them - especially if they are basing acceptance on your cumulative gpa. However typically if you have already had college work such as prerequisites they aren't interested in your highschool grades. I've always seen schools ask for all secondary education transcripts. That means all college work not high school. Having said that I did find out that the school I was applying to said "all" secondary transcripts but really only wanted the transcript from my B.A. and everything since my 1st degree. Also, eventhough they wanted transcripts for everything (if a student doesn't already have a degree) they only based admission on the prerequisite gps.
