Do I have a chance at CRNA schools? 25$ gift card to best answer

Published

GPA of 3.63 BSN from SDSU

2 years in ICU (minimum exp that they look for, I know :C)

First GRE last month:

Combined GRE: 327    Quant 170  (96th %ile)   Verbal 157 (75th %ile) AWA: 4.0 (54th %ile)

Planning to retake the GRE next month aiming for 330+.

First attempt GMAT: 770 (99th %ile) V: 44/ Q: 50/ IR: 6

250 Hours of volunteer service at ymca LOL

I Have good letters of rec/references.

Do not have CCRN cert

40 hours shadowing Nurse anesth, but I will get more before next app period.

I'm wondering if I have a good cahnce to get into a CRNA school, or if I should look into FNP schools instead? I know my GPA is lacking; in an attempt to buffer my sad GPA, I spent half a year studying for GRE and GMAT thinking I wanted to get an MBA, but I definitely want to go either FNP or CRNA.

What are some schools that I may have a chance at?

I know I'm kind of asking alot, but I can't find much info on average pool stats for GPA and GRE for nursing schoools, only info that comes up is minimum to apply which is 3.0gpa, 50th percentile on all three sections gre, but gre waived if 3.0 GPA or higher or masters degree.

I'll give a 25$ GoplayGOLF gift card to whoever has best answer or direction to resources that can help me see where I have a chance/where I should apply.

you will get in USC's CRNA program with solid stats

Oh your GPA is not lacking at all......you seem like a great applicant. Keep your head down and if this is the path you want then go for it and don't accept any less ?

GPA is a solid start! I would definitely suggest getting your CCRN to establish yourself as a certified nurse. I’d also try to snag some resume builders in leadership or education. Maybe joining your unit council, becoming an ACLS/PALS instructor, getting involved with your new grad residency…. something like that. Also, I highly suggest networking your way into a particular program. If you have any connections on the educational side of the school you’re applying to, try to reach out and schedule a meeting with them or ask them to talk with you about the program. It’s good to have an insider that knows your name. That was the golden ticket for a lot of my friends who got accepted. Hope this helps!

Get your CCRN, save money on retaking the GRE and instead, invest in a strategy session or formal interview preparation instead! Good luck.

I just finished interviewing. Some candidates were very reheorificed and robotic. I finally asked one of them what they did to prepare and they told me they paid for coaching. Be careful of learning a ‘script’ or‘strategy’ to follow. Programs are looking for a good fit, and being authentic is important.
