Hi, I am majoring in Biology at Rutgers, expected to graduate this May 2011.
My current cumulative GPA is 3.1 which is pretty low...I applied as a transfer for Rutgers-Newark Nursing school using school to school (Between Rutgers campus/majors) with cumulative GPA 3.1 but then I didn't get accepted. I guess I have to be at least 3.5 to transfer to Rutgers Nursing school. So I am going to apply for Accelerated BSN programs at Rutgers, UMDNJ, Seton Hall, FDU, and NJCU.
Do you guys think I have a chance?
I finished all my pre-nursing requirements at Rutgers- A&P I and II with labs, microbiology (I took the one for biology majors which is harder and the nursing department said they will count this as microbio requirement), general chemistry I&II with the labs, developmental psychology, statistics and the grades for these classes were all above B!
But I am really devastated and disappointed at myself being rejected. I understand 3.1 GPA is low but it's because I took all that not-so-easy level 4 credit biology pre-med classes such as organic chemistry, physics, mammalian physiology, molecular biology etc which could have lowered my GPA at some points.
What should I do??? Should I wait and apply after I get my Spring 2011 grades or just apply now with 3.1 GPA???
I feel like I am not going to get in :-(
If there is anyone who got accepted to one of those programs, would you tell me what was your GPA and such??
Maybe I just should take GRE or MCAT and prepare for graduate school??? :-(
Please help me out...Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you!!

just to give some hope to those out there applying and wondering about the gpa requirment. As I said in my post made May 24th, I was told that though rutgers says you need a 3.3 for their program, realstically you won't be a strong contender if you don't have 3.7+ (was told by those who recently transfered in). Well I did recieve an accpetence from Rutgers with my 3.3 gpa, I am sure there where other factors that played a part as well. The point is apply, as long as you have the prereqs are in progress with the prereqs apply, the worse they can do is say no.

Rutgers student here, also applied to the Regular nursing program as a transfer student, school to school transfer. Should find out in june-nervous and nervous and terrfied at same time.
Anyway from what I hear from the grapevine- unless you have a 3.7+gpa you will not get accepeted into the nursing program. Again this is for the tradaitional 4 year not the accelerated. Now if you go to the website or the nursing center the minimum gpa needed is 3.0, so the students are saying one thing, website says another.
I will be as thy guinea pig, I have above a 3.0 but certinally not a 3.7, let us see how june plays out
