Hello,

I am currently going through a bunch of different options concerning potentially entering the Army for a nursing career.

One thing that has had unclear answers is if direct commission officers go through basic training.

(It is not a problem as I am physically fit, and think it would be an interesting challenge, I am just curious).

What particular training courses do direct commission RN's do?

My boyfriend just completed Army Basic training and is now doing OCS and the specialized training after that. Is this the same for direct commission?

-They do not go thru enlisted basic training but do go thru officer basic training. This is nowhere as tough or mentally changeling as enlisted basic.

What particular training courses do direct commission RN's do?

-All officers go thru what is called OBLC, Officer Basic Leadership Course. Each branch has there on version and AMEDD has theirs at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.
