DNP and so forth

Hello Again I am tipping my toe in the educator watyr.I work a regular ER job at night as an NP. I need extra money  for bills. I would prefer to teach for extra I just need a ballpark number for  adjunct faculty and professor .I am considering  getting a DNP. all advice is helpful.

I'm not an educator, but from what I've read on this forum, adjunct faculty only make a couple thousand dollars per course (maybe a little more at universities, a little less at community colleges). It seems like the kind of thing that people do because they enjoy it, since it doesn't generate much revenue relative to the amount of time they have to put into it.

If you're paying out of pocket for your DNP, it could be several years before you break even (let alone make extra money). You could probably get a teaching gig at a community college with an MSN, but again, they make even less per course.

If you're looking to make some extra money, you'd probably be better off picking up NP work. Maybe you could look into retail health (like a minute clinic); they'd probably be happy to have you with your ER background, and I've heard that they're relatively well-paid.

Former faculty here, have to agree with previous post. You would do better working urgent care PRN.

If you take your contract pay for an adjunct class and divide it by clinical hours, grading hours, counseling, arriving early and leaving late to site, etc. you'll actually be amazed (most likely disgusted) with the hourly rate you'll receive. You are WAY better off to pick up a PRN NP gig if you're looking for extra money.
