diversity application question

Published

I have a question on my application dealing with diversity. The question asks for an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the University learning community in terms of diversity based on my personal experience. I have worked as a CNA in a rural hospital where I have been able to see a variety of different cases. I'm wondering if that would work.

I'm no admissions expert, but I think that is a fabulous skill set that you would bring to your nursing class.

They mean race and gbtl mostly and poverty, single parenthood, gender (male in this case because nursing is a female dominated profession), national origin (if it is something other than western European and not too far back), religion (if it isn't Christian) or some kind of mental or addiction problems to a lesser extent.

If all you have to talk about is a variety of cases, then so be it but if any of them have to do with the above - talk about them.

Or you can click on the pages on diversity and see for yourself - the first page of the section usually uses the word "all" but the news stories, supported programs, lists of achievements, etc tell a different story. First person exeriences will also but you won't find that out until you get there and sometimes not even then (you have to be in the leadership to really see how tilted it is).
