Do you think it's okay to wear a tongue-ring to work as a nurse, or other direct patient services aspect?
I have no desire to induce a speech problem on myself.
Personally i think it's tacky, but it's not my tongue to deal with either , and what annoys me is that the majority of these people with them in feel the need to PLAY with them all the time (not all but MOST) and that just creeps me out.
Well, the piercing that threw me for a loop the most was what I saw during my L&D clinical setting during Nursing I. I asked the primary nurse I was following if the Dr.'s now use staples for episiotomies and she replied, "Oh no, that's not a staple. That's a piercing!" :imbar Uff, took me back a bit. :chuckle
I have had mine pierced for 7 years now and I have been a nurse for 4. I always wear my special 'nude' ring to work. I have never had a patient even notice I'm wearing one. In fact on day some co-workers and I were discussing the act when I showed them mine. All of them were in shock having never noticed it before.
No offense to anyone who has a tongue ring, but my dad always told me if God wanted extra holes in my body he would have put them there. Mind you inspite of my dad, I did get a second hole placed inmy ears, but that is all. I don't agree with body piercing, but that is just my opinion, everyone is entitled to opinions and actions--do as u feel.

I don't see any problem with them. My daughter has her tongue pierced, and I think it looks cool. As for the people who find it distracting, so what? Maybe other people find your bald head, or ugly haircut, hideous makeup job, pierced ears, or whatever distracting? Should they all change to please someone else? Of course not! Can you imagine how boring it would be if we all looked alike? Let people express their own individuality without judgement and embrace diversity!:kiss
