Dismissal from Nursing Program

Published

This past semester, I was academically dismissed from my nursing program. However, I am still determined to continue pursuing this career by reapplying to other programs. With this dismissal, I am aware that this limits my options but hoping my BS in Health Science can increase my chances with second bachelors/Master's entry nursing route. Is there anyone that has been in my shoes that was successfully able to get into a different program after being dismissed? If so, any recommendations for which schools to apply to? For reference, I am in CA but due to the competitiveness of CA schools, I am willing to consider out of state.

Going to be difficult.  You may want to just start contacting schools and honestly explain the reason for dismissal.  Also..more important.  Self analysis on why you failed out. School is expensive. There is a big difference between "wanting" something and "doing" something.  And if you fail at nursing in the real world there can be grave consequences (job loss, lawsuits). Spending more money only to not to meet minimums again could put you in a worse spot.  Excuses don't mean anything. If you are not in the right mindset for school now I would hold off.
