Hello everyone,
I would like to collect some opinions, experiences, ideas, anything you have to say about patient falls. Particularly if it has to do with patient and staff education. Just trying to gather some data on falls education and prevention interventions.
If you can't think of anything, how about:
Do you think educating staff about falls (interventions, how to use alarms properly and when to implement them) and also educate patient about falls are effective at reducing the falls rate?
Thanks for sharing

the most imp thing is to staff the floor adequately. I know hospitals where medical floors give 6 pts in California wth no LVN and no aid haif of the day. Falls in these cases are very much possible.

From what I understand, in the end, this is what it comes down to. Better staffing means less falls. Hospital admin are obsessive in their search to find another (cost free) way to solve the problem but I do not know of anything that has been effective enough to stick.
We all float down here.
