I am a RN with 1 year experience in the adult world as a float RN.
When I complete my nicu orientation in school, I fell in love. I completed a senior focus and worked my butt off in the nicu department where I currently work. I felt like the interview went well after the senior focus was completed, but I didn't get an offer.
I finished my year experience as a float RN and applied AGAIN to the nicu. This time I didn't even get an interview.
I just interviewed at a children's hospital for nicu and they told the recruiter that I would be a good fit for the float team at the children's hospital. I'm just so discouraged at this point. I have no idea what I am doing wrong in these nicu interviews .

I would take any pediatric position you can get and then continue to make friends with NICU nurses and try for a NICU position. Switching specialties is not as easy as it used to be.

Take the Peds float position. You will float to the NICU and the more your face becomes familiar, the easier it will be to get a full-time position.

Absolutely agree that the peds float position is a step in the right direction. And rock it!
