Hi all,
I have been a nurse for 20 years. Completed the BON SARP program and have been sober for 11 years. I am switching jobs at the moment and was thinking of disclosing my recovery. Does anyone have experience with this? How did the HR or new boss react?

Why would you disclose this unless you are specifically asked? I absolutely would not.

I would not disclose. Not everyone is recovery friendly. Telling them may invite much closer and unnecessary scrutiny. Just go on with your fabulous sober self.
Thank you all. When researching the hospital Friday, I was shocked to see my old manager is the Chief Nursing Operator there. She was involved in reporting me to the BON many years ago. This is so full circle! should have given more details in my initial post. I appreciate your messages so very much! Do you think I should discuss this with my new to be manager?

This whole monitoring agreement is absolutely miserable for me and 100% do I never want to be in this position again. I would actually find a different job which is extreme but way too many of us without a sud or mental illness are in a monitoring agreement. I'd look for a job elsewhere to be extremely cautious but that's just me. When this is over I'll get a different job and tell no one I had to do a monitoring agreement. I'll be cordial with coworkers but that's it.
