Disclosing past education

Published

Hello!

so I'm going to make this short. I have a degree in Business and would like to now pursue becoming a nurse. My question is, do I have to disclose that I already have a degree? or what are the pros and cons?

also, my grades weren't the best while going for my degree so I don't want them hurting me in the end

Thanks guys!

You do. They will find out especially if you apply for financial aid. There are databases that indicate where you have attended before. Failure to disclose will get you rejected for fraud.

I figured there was, just wanted to confirm. I appreciate the response!

Why would you not want to disclose this? You should at least have a reason before you think about breaking a rule. That being said, having degree may help you with prereqs. For example, even though I didn't take speech already, because I have a BA I didn't have to take for working towards my nursing degree.

I didn't know it was a rule, this is why I was asking..I didn't want to do anything negative, I was educating myself. The o la prerequisites that transferred were the usual English and such :\ I still need to take speech

If you don't disclose you could possibly get blacklisted from applying, I know one of my colleagues tried to submit their nursing school app while withholding all their course grades from one particular college...not the best idea

If it's on the student application or the program application, then yeah you could get into some major trouble not reporting it. Read both of those carefully.

I'm in the process of applying to grad schools now. ALL of them require transcripts from every school you have ever attended and a disclaimer at the end that your application will be voided or your selection status revoked if you do not provide all transcripts.
