My dr induced me 9 days before my due date because he thought my son would be to big for me to have vag., I'm 4ft 11in. I had pit (at about 7 a.m.) and started contractions right away. Dr broke my water about an hour or so later. All of the pain was in my back. I hadn't wanted an epid, I wanted to do it without any medication. Then I couldn't breathe through them like I had been taught in class and had read in all the books. I broke down and got one a couple of hours later (I feel guilty about not going longer since I had had my mind set on not having one). Anyway, I dilated to 10 and my son wouldn't come down. At 3:00 dr checked and said we may have to do a c-section since he wasn't moving down but we would wait and see. A little while later he said we would have to do one because he couldn't come down, he was too big. That was fine with me because I just wanted a healthy baby and I completely trust my dr. My son was born at 8:45 that night, 9lbs 2oz and 22in long. Everyone including Dr was surprised (he expected 8lbs). We had to stay an extra day (4 total) because ped thought my son had an infection but thankfully he didn't. We get home and I am feeling fine until I try to sleep in our recliner, I hear crinkling in my chest and my husband said I gasped for air when I did sleep. Go into dr's office next day and after a chest x-ray he admits me. I had fluid in my lungs, enlarged heart, temp, high blood pressure. He said he was surprised I was walking in after he saw my x-ray. He said that this should have happened before I was discharged. After a few days I go home and everything is fine. 22 months later I have a daughter by scheduled c-section 10 days early, she was 8lb 2oz 20in long and no problems afterward. Does anyone know what happened? Dr doesn't really know.

Could possibly be post-partum cardiomyopathy... although the temp doesn't really fit

I have seen two cardiomyopathies in my career: close together. Sounds like a combination of factors but I am glad everything is good now.
Thank you for your replies. My dr had the cardiologist (sp?) check me before I left. He said I was fine. When I got pregnant the 2nd time, I asked my dr should I worry that it would happen again and he said it shouldn't.
Bless you, I hope all turns out ok.

I am not an OB nurse. It sounds like you had an infection, complicated by a cardiacmyopathy(?). I am happy your second pregency was without any complications.
