Anyone on here applying to direct entry MSN programs that begin in summer or fall of 2013? I think I have finalized my list of programs to apply to, and I am beginning to get everything together to start applying this summer/early fall (I know this is rather early, but I'm a bit anxious and I was wondering if there was anyone else on this board who is just as excited as me!). I am pretty certain that I will be applying to UPenn, Yale, Johns Hopkins, Northeastern, University of Massachusetts, Boston College, Columbia, Vanderbilt, and Marquette. I am also applying to a few Accelerated BSN programs in my state (Florida) - UCF and UF, for sure. I have all of my prerequisite courses completed, and currently have a 3.76, but my BS is still in progress and I have to retake the GRE this summer. I look forward to hearing from other people!
Hopefulnurse24, Northeastern does offer a BSN. You work as a BSN for 6-9 months and then get your MSN. And from what I understand they do arrange your clinicals but they don't help you find a job when you're working in the 6-9 months portion

I don't know about the online program, but in Northeastern's direct entry (in Boston), you do not have to find your own preceptors or clinical sites for both the BSN portion or the MSN portion.

The person I spoke to was very nice and it felt like we were just having a conversation, because after she would write down some of my responses, she would talk to me about them and tell me things that Hopkins offered and whatnot that were in line with my responses. The interview is really nothing to worry about or stress over! Just be yourself! And make sure you are comfortable discussing health care in general! :)
Ally, thanks for the clarification. I am not getting my hopes up for Northeastern anyways, though... they only take a class of 24! It's so crazy!

Hey guys, you're all awesome! Thanks so much for the nice words and thoughts. I interviewed via phone interview this morning at Hopkins. They didn't ask too many questions, it was all very basic stuff that was probably addressed in either your resume or in one of your many essays! It took a little over 20 minutes. They basically want to get an idea of who you are, and why you chose your specialty and why you want a masters degree. Make sure that you are very comfortable discussing health care and nursing! Have a wide range of knowledge. The person who I spoke to was an admissions officer, and she was wonderful. She was incredibly friendly and I felt that things flowed very nicely. She made me feel at ease and also made me very excited about their program! And one more tip that you guys are all probably aware of, but I just want to reiterate it... when they ask you if you have any questions at the end of the interview, ALWAYS have questions prepared! Because not only do we all probably have questions that we want answered, whether they are about the program or admissions, but it also shows that you've been doing your homework and research on the program, and that you also have an interest in their program. :)
yay hopeful! glad to hear your interview went well :) I definitely need to brush up on health care politics. What was the name of your interviewer? I wonder if we'd have the same person. But I am wrapping up the rest of my personal statements by this weekend. Then it's TEAs studying time and prepping for that hopkins interview. Again congrats on a successful phone interview hopeful!
Meep05, they do value patient care experience and when I emailed the admissions board about my GRE scores (I didn't meet the verbal suggested score, but did so for the math and writing) they actually suggested that I should take it over.... but I didn't have time, so I just went along and submitted it anyway. They have a pretty long personal statement though..took me so long to edit! Good luck with the app :)

Does anybody know what the averages (GPA,GRE) were for most of these schools last year (BC, Yale, Columbia, Simmons, MGH, Northeastern, UPenn, etc)?
