Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!
Good Luck!

Campus housing is definitely the most bang for your buck if you can get into the towers. I haven’t heard amazing things about Bard Hall, but it’s cheap, so that’s a plus. If you do not already live in one of the outer boroughs, I would not actively search for an apartment there. Connect with people at visiting day and find an apartment in Washington heights or Harlem if you can. There are TONS of apartments around the medical campus, and you’ll be so thankful to be so close.

As for on campus housing, are new students only allow to stay at Bard Halls or do we have other on campus housing options?

I found these details while poking around: https://www.cumc.columbia.edu/facilities-management/campus-life/housing/students/rates-and-billing
Where I would live is my second concern right now, behind the financial aid package ? On campus seems easiest and I'm coming from Texas so I hope to get a spot in one of these options! The application opens on Feb1 to apply for housing.

i saw this on their website earlier. but i also saw several rooms for less than 10k/yr , which is why i’m a bit confused lol. i’m not sure if there’s a specific location designated for us nursing students. since you’re coming from texas you’re almost guaranteed one.

And under 10k sounds like a really sweet spot for pricing!
So idk if this sounds stupid or if anyone is willing (since we are all strangers) but I was thinking of just sharing an apartment with other people- from the nursing school if needed. Apartments in NYC are pricey so getting one and splitting the monthly cost for utilities could be cheaper!
I'm on the waitlist so its just an idea!

I think that’s the best way to go! At least for me, I’m either applying for the dorm or the bedroom apartment.
