Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!

Hey everyone, I am anticipating the acceptance/denials if I get denied I will literally cry. This is such a dream of mine and I am so nervous as time gets closer. If I am accepted I am going to celebrate and scream of happiness! ?

I'm predicting we'll here back on the 21st or 23rd

I'm not sure I'll get in, I had to W from a few classes this semester. These classes were like electives and not required by Columbia, but I'm still nervous.

For some reason I heard they have a high acceptance rate

I feel you! I’ve been telling my co workers and friends that I’ll either cry of happiness or sadness and be in fetal position. It took so much hard work to get to this point. Everyone is being so positive for me but I am being cautious to not get my hopes up yet.

Yes, I'm pretty sure they mentioned in the orientation that something like 1 in 3 applicants gets accepted? I could be completely delusional though.

Today I got accepted into the RN program at my community college. Now *that* was crazy competitive. And I'm very grateful. Just lots of mixed feelings. It's a 2-yr program to get an associate's degree (even though I hear constantly that even BSN new nurses in NYC can't find jobs, so I dunno). Very affordable, though.

Yet in the same amount of time, I could earn a master's from Columbia and get the most amazing experiences/connections, be on a better track toward becoming an NP someday. But also wildly in debt, as a new grad in my 40s with kids, so...

Good luck, everyone! Lots of pros/cons with every choice I guess. Fingers still crossed for Columbia acceptance. Even if I can't really swing the money, I guess it would be nice to know I could get in.

Anyone here got into Hopkins? Columbia and Hopkins are my top two but idk what I would choose.. Columbia has a higher price tag and lower NCLEX scores but then again, isn't it just the capability and effort of the student rather than the school itself? Hopkins is overall better support system I feel like BUT Columbia has the better environment for me and since I will apply to the DNP as well, it would be a better route. Anyone got some advice for me if I do get into Columbia?

@Barbiegirl1229 The acceptance rate is around 30%. Last year, apparently they received around 700-800 applicants and accepted 200-250. You can never see what the pool of applicants look like but assuming you will have a better chance as a well rounded applicant with passion. Thats very vague but that's all the information they give out lol. Assuming grades is just a small factor, your experiences, personal statements, and LORs is your key to the acceptance letter.

This wait is killing me too and sometimes I have to go back to the earlier pages to assure myself that I was a strong applicant so I don't have to stress myself over it.

I'm currently applying to Hopkins now and attended an information chat yesterday about the program. I heard amazing things about their scholarships and professors so it encouraged me to apply. I'm extremely nervous about this process but I'm giving myself pep-talks every morning to "speak things into existence". Columbia is my absolute goal so crossing fingers. Hopefully, everyone in this forum gets in as well!!

They said they accept 200 students. But last year they got 800 applications. So, that's still a small amount of students that get accepted in my opinion. I am trying not to get my hopes up but trying to be positive which is hard.

Yeah, I agree with you guys. Depending on the time of day we find out, it's either going to be a joyful day & week and crying day. At the end of the day, it's out of our hand now and if it's meant to happen then we will get in. I'm going to assume the 200 students acceptance is for the MDE and not for the combine MDE/DNP correct?
