If there's anyone here currently in the Direct Entry FNP program at Ohio State, can you please reach out to me either in this thread or in direct message?
About a year ago I spoke with some DE FNP students who stated an average week was 1 day in the class room, 12 hours of clinicals, and a decent amount of self study. I just got a generic response from their admissions who said it was "full-time throughout the week".
I'd really like to know what an average week looks like..
Thanks!!
Really hoping there's someone in this program who posts here?

FireMedicMike, I just graduated from the traditional masters family nurse practitioner track at OSU. I can't speak to the program requirements for the direct entry students, but I am sure it will be quite demanding. I found that during the semesters I took 8 credits or more, it felt like a full time commitment. (I think as a direct entry student you will have a full time credit load throughout, correct?) I worked as an RN part-time and have two young children, so that perhaps contributed to my perception of being really busy. If you are deciding on work or family commitments based on your expected workload in the program, I would probably start easy and add committments as you acclimate to the program. I learned a lot and think you will be happy with the quality of the instruction. Good luck!
Thanks for that, of those 8 hours per semester, how much involved you being physically on site? I have earned my bachelors through CSCC/Ohio University completely online and am working my NP pre-reqs in a hybrid (self study plus in person labs) and have always done very well with that learning style.
If this is similar to the NP program setup, I think I could continue working through school (I have a somewhat flexible job).
Thanks!
