I heard someone recently comment about the "large number of diploma programs still churning out new grads in Pittsburgh". Is this true? If so, what hospitals still run diploma programs and do they have a plan for switching them over? I thought they were already done away with.

Oh yes, several diploma programs in the Burgh. Mercy, Shadyside and West Penn are some that come to mind and I do believe St. Margaret still has one. Most are associated with a University and you earn credits that transfer.

Diploma programs certainly have not been "done away with." I read somewhere just recently that PA and NJ have the largest number of diploma programs in the US. Some states no longer have any at all, but they are still "around," and providing excellent nursing educations.
