The grandfather clause may be for BC nurses who are already working as RNs in BC.
At the moment, NPs in Alberta only need a bachelor degree while BC requires NPs
to have a masters degree....that was one of the issues discussed in the CARNA
review of TILMA....
That would leave me to think that currently one cannot just transfer over.
However, TILMA comes into effect fully in 2009 so if you are a RN
in AB you can work as a RN in BC without more paperwork or hurdles
The accelerated program is a baccalaureate program for people who already have a university degree in something else, thereby fulfilling the liberal arts elective portion of the BScN. It isn't the same as a diploma program by any means. Graduates come out with a BScN, so are employable anywhere in Canada. And as Fiona59 said, NPs in Alberta MUST be Master's prepared at the very least. We have a large number of them where I work, and several of them are working on PhDs.

Actually we graduated with a diploma. I graduated from the accelerated program at Grant MacEwan last year as well.
currently, the minimum requirement to be a NP in alberta is a baccalaureate degree although there is agreement that that minimum will be changed to a masters degree.
To work in Capital Health or Caritas...the major employers of NPs in Alberta...a masters degree is required...that is why all the NPs you see in the hospitals are masters prepared or higher
